Detroit, MI RV and Boat Storage

Do you feel like every time you want a quick getaway in the woods you end up planning and packing for days?  Do you end up paying a fortune on gas because you’re driving your RV back and forth through Detroit’s traffic and the campgrounds?  Is your RV or boat known as the neighborhood monstrosity?  We all know that the small neighborhoods and towns of Detroit make it difficult to keep such large vehicles in your front yard.  If these are challenges that you deal with constantly, we have two words for you:  self storage.

Free for All (No, Not Literally)

Trying to pack for a camping trip can be a long and rigorous process.  You need water, firewood, tents, plates, napkins, etc.  The list goes on and on!  Instead of having to gather all of these things every time you are planning a trip, consider putting these things in a self storage facility next to your favorite campground or RV park. Detroit Greenfield RV Park and Haas Lake Park are some amazing places for quick weekend getaways.  There are storage facilities conveniently located in the immediate vicinity of these parks. U-Lock-It Self Storage is a great storage facility in which you can store your goods, and they even have RV, boat and vehicle storage.  This way you can drop by the facility on your way to the campgrounds, pick up your stuff and the RV, and drop off your car.  You won’t have to worry about your soap, condiments, or even your wine being spoiled because of the option of climate controlled units, nor will you have to be there at a certain time due to having 24-hour access to your unit.  Let’s be real here, no one likes having time restrictions while on vacation.

Security, Surveillance, and Night Vision Goggles

Okay, so no storage facility actually has night vision goggles, but it would be cool if they did!  We know how important your RV/boat is to you, and we also know that it cost you a fortune to acquire it.  In order to keep the love of your life safe, you might want to consider a storage facility with strict security.  A lot of storage facilities have 24-hour surveillance cameras, but you might want to try to find a place that actually has foot patrol as well.  Other things you may want to consider are:  well lit facilities, facilities with alarms on individual units, and on-site managers.  Detroit is known to have a ridiculously high crime rate, so be sure to take measures that will prevent you or your things from becoming a target.

Selling your Soul to the Devil

Don’t you feel like that every time you sign a contract or any lease agreement?  Lucky for you, storage facilities don’t leave you with that ominous feeling.  You may or may not want to keep your RV or boat in a storage facility all year, so you need to have a flexible lease.  You don’t want to have to be paying for storing your RV or boat during the summer while you’re actually using it.  That’s four months that your unit is likely to be empty.  Most storage facilities offer month-to month leases so you don’t have to worry about paying for a space year round.  If you’re new to all of this, storage managers are generally very happy to help you choose a facility or a unit.  Also, ask around for facilities that offer seasonal discounts, and be sure to carry around your AAA card for any discounts you can get with that!  With the money you save on those discounts, you can probably save up for another month to store your things.
