Corona, CA Military Storage

When you sign up for the military, you know you’ll learn a lot of survival techniques, but no one tells you that you’ll also learn to pack light.  However, you can only do that to a certain extent, especially if you know you’ll be stationed somewhere long term.  Plus, you probably have a family that also has things that they need room for.  If you’re moving around so much, you need to make the place you’re living in feel like home, and you can’t really do that without bringing your stuff.  The best way to make sure you have your stuff but aren’t overcrowding your housing unit is to put your stuff in self storage.  Corona has 26 storage facilities to choose from, so we’re sure you’ll find a place that suits your needs.

Soldiers have Storage Needs Too

Twentynine Palms Marine Corps is a base that is run by the Marine Corps and is close to Corona.  The base hosts about 8,413 people and has regular training for troops that are on-site and for visitors.  This base has a rough terrain, which is great for training troops under severe conditions.  Travel to the area is restricted because of its dry lakes, ancient lava flows, abandoned mines, and unexploded missiles.  There is also excessive rain that causes severe flooding, and the floods are usually powerful enough to move a tank!  As you can see, the space that they have that is nice enough to build things on is used for housing, buildings, and other needs of people who live and train there.  So unfortunately, there’s no room for storage on the base, and even if there were, it’s better to put your stuff elsewhere because of the severe conditions that affect the area.

If you live on this base, a great place to store your stuff is AA Bunker Storage, which is 6.2 miles away.  This facility regularly deals with military tenants because of its proximity to the base.  They also offer military discounts—a 10% discount for active-duty personnel, reserves, and veterans.  You can have your packages delivered there and they will keep them for you until you have time to pick them up, and they also take various security measures to ensure the safety of your things.  The grounds are fenced and lighted, there is electronic gate access, a manager lives on site, and they also have video surveillance.  This seems like a pretty secure facility if you ask us.  We don’t see why you wouldn’t want to store your things at this facility, but if so, you can also store your stuff at Adobe Self Storage, which is also just about six miles away from the base.  Whichever facility you end up choosing, we know you’ll have a great experience.

Security Comes First

Speaking of security, you should always check what measures facilities take in order to keep your things safe.  Corona is a relatively mellow city, so you wouldn’t expect too many break-ins.  However, the city has an average of 3,458 annual property crimes, and is safer than 33% of the cities in the U.S.  When choosing a storage facility, look for things like gated and well-lit grounds, units with individual alarms, 24-hour video surveillance, and security guards.  Being in the military has taught you enough about security to make the right decision, but be sure to not take it lightly when looking for a storage facility.

Being Deployed

You can be deployed at a moments notice, meaning that everything has to be wrapped up and left behind in an instance.  For one thing, be sure to sign up for online bill pay so you can make your monthly payments from anywhere you have internet access.  If you don’t have time to pay your bills while you’re on a mission (Shocker!), don’t worry about it too much.  The government has prohibited storage facility managers from auctioning off the contents of active military members’ units.

You might also need to pack your things in the middle of the night and realize that you can’t get to your unit because the facility closed at 8PM.  Don’t put yourself in that position—look for a facility that allows for 24-hour access to your unit so you don’t have to leave necessary items behind.
