Boise, ID Military Storage

When you sign up for the military, you know you’ll have to learn to become fearless, but no one warns you about having to learn how to pack light.  If you find that you still haven’t learned to do that, don’t worry.  Boise has 57 storage facilities to choose from where you can store your things.  You’ll be moving around a lot as a military member, whether it is for training, deployment, or any other mission you may be assigned to.  Thanks tothe storage industry, you won’t have to move your things around with you.

What do military people store?

Military bases are quite big, and often provide personnel with housing for themselves and for their family members.  However, the spaces of these housing units can be quite small, and it’s common for people to need a storage unit to put their things in.  Boise is home to a few military bases, including the Mountain Home Air Force Base, which has a population of over 3,200, and the Idaho Army National Guard, which has a population of 4,763.  Combined, that’s actually not too many people who need storage units, but these populations do not include people who come to the bases temporarily to train.   Try to find a unit at Magic Valley Storage, which is just 1.2 miles away from the Idaho Army National Guard, or Republic Storage, which is 11.4 miles away from the Mountain Home Air Force Base.  These facilities will accommodate a wide range of things that you may need to store, including medicine, basic household necessities (blankets, pillows, clothing, etc.), anything made out of wood or metal, and possibly even weapons (Not all facilities allow weapons so be sure to ask first!).  If you noticed, most of the things that we mentioned are sensitive to weather conditions.  Boise actually has some very hot summers, with temperatures generally in the 90s.  Despite the heat, you can store things like medicine, or even your expensive wine collection, because storage facilities offer climate controlled units.  You can leave your stuff in your units and not be worried about having to move it or check in on it periodically just because of the weather.  This would especially be hard to do if you’re taking part in a mission in a different state or country.

Benefits of using self storage

One of the most obvious benefits of using self storage is that it clears up space in your house for more important things.  But there are also a number of benefits that don’t come to mind immediately.  One big concern is safety, especially for military personnel because they leave home for long periods of time.  Most self storage facilities offer well lit grounds, surveillance cameras, and a gated area so that only tenants and employees can enter.  Some facilities even have units with their own alarm system, which takes the security to a whole different level.  This way, if you’re deployed to another country for months at a time, you don’t have to worry about the safety of your things and can focus on getting home in one piece.

Another great benefit is the option of having month-to-month leases.  If you had to break a lease for your storage unit every time you changed a base, you probably wouldn’t be able to afford a unit for too long.  Most facilities often recommend month-to-month leases, and active military members have the added benefit of not having to losing the contents of their unit to an auction if they default on a payment due to deployment.  If you have time to make sure you are paying your bills on time, you can opt for online bill pay so that you can take care of that from anywhere in the world.

Last but not least, a lot of storage units offer 24-hour access to your units.  Given the nature of military training, it’s very likely that you’ll need to go get your belongings at odd times of the day or night.  If you are able to go into your unit at any time of day, it’ll essentially be like having really big closet that you don’t have to deal with on a daily basis.
