Looking for storage in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin’s state capital is Madison, and its largest city is Milwaukee. As of 2008, the state’s population was estimated at 5.6 million residents.
Wisconsin is home to an array of geographical features, as the state is divided into five distinct regions. In the north, the Lake Superior Lowland occupies a spread of land along Lake Superior. To the south, the Northern Highland contains hardwood and evergreen forests, including 1,500,000 acres of Chequamegon–Nicolet National Forest, as well as thousands of glacial lakes, and Timms Hill, the state’s highest point. In the middle of Wisconsin, the Central Plain has unique sandstone formations such as the Dells of the Wisconsin River and rich farmland. The Eastern Ridges and Lowlands region is the home to many of Wisconsin’s largest cities. In the southwest, the Western Upland is comprised of forest, farmland, and many bluffs along the Mississippi River.
Areas under the management of the National Park Service include: Apostle Islands National Lakeshore along Lake Superior, Ice Age National Scenic Trail, North Country National Scenic Trail, and Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway.
Next to California, Wisconsin is second in the overall production of milk and butter, and third in per–capita milk production, behind Idaho and Vermont, though it leads the nation in cheese production. Wisconsin also ranks first in the production of corn, cranberries, ginseng, and snap beans, and is a major producer of beer. Milwaukee was the former headquarters to Miller Brewing Company, the nation’s second–largest brewer, until it merged with Coors Brewing Company. Schlitz, Blatz, and Pabst also formerly called Milwaukee home.

Climate
Wisconsin’s climate is classified as humid continental. The highest temperature ever recorded was 114 degrees Fahrenheit, in 1936. The lowest temperature ever recorded was in Couderay, where temperatures dropped to –55 degrees Fahrenheit in February of 1996. Lake Michigan and Lake Superior modify the climate slightly. Wisconsin features very cold, snowy winters, and often features sub–zero temperatures, while summer temperatures often average temperatures above 90 degrees in some areas. The state’s long cold winters, and short warm summers, suggests, by some, the vast leisure opportunities contribute to the state’s high drinking rates.
